Jim Harpel is a Co-Founder of Two Roads Development responsible for the general oversight of the firm and chairs the Investment Committee for the Fund. He is the general partner of two separate private equity firms: (a) Palm Beach Capital Partners LLC (General Partner), which invests in, and builds, small and medium sized companies and makes personally direct real estate investments, and (b) First Reserve Corporation (Founder and non-active General Partner, with Bill Macaulay), which acts as the General Partner of, and has manage a series of private equity funds in excess of $ 20 billion in the areas of energy, power and natural resources. He has also been involved over many years as a principal in a series of successful private equity deals ranging from leveraged buyouts to venture capital companies. Mr. Harpel attended Harvard College (1959) and graduated from Harvard Business School in 1960 with distinction. Mr. Harpel is currently on the Executive Committee of the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach. He served on the Board of the Kennedy School at Harvard for over 40 years and has served as a Director at the Belfer Institute at Kennedy School for over 20 years. He also was a Director and Trustee of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute Board in Boston. Mr. Harpel is a member of the Council of Foreign Relations, and was a 2019 recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
